Dear Students,

The Harold G. Williams Jr. Scholarship Fund was established in June 2000 in order to honor our Pastor Emeritus, Harold G. Williams. It was also established to provide a source of funds, which would be available for a scholarship to members of our congregation, who are accepted by a college, university, trade school, or seminary at either the undergraduate or graduate level. Any member of Bedford Presbyterian Church who is interested in pursuing the denomination’s training for at least one year in the mission field shall also be eligible. Any member of Bedford Presbyterian Church who is interested in participating in PC(USA) Programs, such as the Young Adult Volunteer program.

Completed applications must be submitted by 8 PM (EST) on Monday, May 4, 2026.

This year, two recipients will be awarded $500 each on Graduation Sunday, June 7, 2026 during the 10:00 worship service. The recipients of the scholarships will be notified by Friday, May 15, 2026.

The requirements for being awarded the Harold G. Williams Scholarship are as follows:
1) be a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church
2) be attending or planning to attend college, trade school or graduate program in the coming fall. No academic or financial need restrictions are placed on this scholarship.

Each applicant will be considered according to his or her own merit, with confidentiality and discretion by the Deacon Scholarship Committee. However, a demonstrated commitment to Bedford Presbyterian Church and serving others is a subjective criterion. Past scholarship recipients may reapply as long as they meet the criteria.
